Our research focuses on health promotion as an ever-evolving global challenge, with a focus on people and the environment, from a One Health perspective.
We conduct multidisciplinary research covering three strategic areas:
- pharmaceutical and nutraceutical science
- genomics and biomolecular sciences
- computational chemistry/biology and bioinformatics
The department’s research activity is multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary, thanks to collaboration with other University departments and local research institutes (IRCCS and CNR).
Thanks to the spaces and facilities in the new Navile Complex, we aim to be a cultural hub for the scientific community and civil society, both locally and globally.
We safeguard the freedom and autonomy of basic research and ensure research ethics and integrity. In addition to maintaining funding for departmental research to safeguard the freedom and autonomy of research by consolidating the allocation of RFO funding, the department is actively involved in training all staff – and particularly PhD students – on research ethics and integrity through dedicated initiatives.
