• Prof.ssa Maria Laura Bolognesi

  Full Professor, Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology
  M. L. Bolognesi is Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Coordinator of the Drug Discovery and Development PhD Program at the University of Bologna. Her research focuses on the design, synthesis, and biological investigation of small molecules for neurodegenerative and neglected tropical diseases. She has extensive experience in coordinating national and international research projects, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. She has authored more than 200 publications in high-ranked scientific journals, including patents and patent applications, and delivered over 120 invited lectures worldwide. She was awarded a Distinguished Visiting Professor Fellowship at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2009, a PVE Fellowship at the University of Brasilia in 2014, and a Professeur Invité position at Université Caen Normandie in 2018. She is Vice-President of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) and Past-President of its Medicinal Chemistry Division, Associate Editor of the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry (ACS), and member of the Advisory Board of the European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC). She has served as Coordinator of the Chemistry Evaluation Expert Group (GEV, Area 03) for the 2020–2024 VQR exercise and as an ERC panel member.
